John Kilzer
Folk-rock singer/songwriter John Kilzer was born and raised in Jackson, TN; after playing basketball at the University of Memphis, he taught English before signing in 1986 to Memphis music vet Keith Sykes' publishing company. Sykes later helped Kilzer land a record deal with Geffen, producing his 1988 debut Memory in the Making; that same year, Kilzer's composition "Green, Yellow, and Red" was also covered by Rosanne Cash on her acclaimed King's Record Shop. His sophomore effort, Busman's Holiday, followed in 1991.
