The banal title fronts a disappointing debut from Sophie Ellis-Bextor, fusing Human League synth with beats and cinematic strings ("Take Me Home"/"Murder on the Dancefloor"). Nothing, though, really comes close to matching the shimmering highlight, "Murder on the Dancefloor," which guests bass genius Guy Pratt. "Final Move" is a more subdued version with similar kaleidoscope synth. Another notable is Ellis-Bextor's English accent, particularly on "By Chance."

In your panoramas...
The Prince of the 80s

Within the family tree of funk, Prince Rogers Nelson, who passed away in April 2016, was a branch all of his own. In the course of a career spanning almost forty years, he managed to blend together the heritage of the founding fathers (James Brown, Sly Stone and George Clinton) with other influences, from rock'n'roll to electronica to jazz. He produced an exuberant, attention-grabbing groove, and his star shone brightest between 1978 and 1988…

Melody Nelson, an Inside View

Fifty years after its release on March 24th, 1971, and thirty years after its creator's death, we look back at the conception and progression of one of Serge Gainsbourg's greatest albums, "Histoire de Melody Nelson", a conceptual story set to music alongside his accomplice Jean-Claude Vannier.

The Talking Heads Revolution

Forty years after its release, David Byrne and his band’s album “Remain in Light” has held on to all of its mad and funky allure. The album’s merging of intellectual post-punk with cosmopolitan dance music influenced groups such as LCD Soundsystem, Vampire Weekend and Arcade Fire. On this fourth album produced by Brian Eno, the Talking Heads revolutionized their sound, but also that of rock itself.
