Tijdens de coronalockdown in 2020 doet Paul McCartney wat hij het liefst doet: muziek maken. Het rusultaat valt te beluisteren op zijn achttiende soloalbum McCartney III. Op de plaat laat McCartney zowel gevoelige ballads als up tempo-rockers horen. Maar wat alle nummers verbindt is de subtiele en trefzekere instrumentatie. Vooral het openingsnummer "Long Tailed Winter Bird" is van uitzonderlijke schoonheid. Met McCartney III scoort de Brit voor het eerst sinds 1989 weer een nummer 1-abum.
