Samengevat klinkt LOVE van the Beatles radicaal: met de hulp van zijn vader, de legendarische Beatles-producer George, stelt Giles Martin een remix-album samen waarop de vertrouwde melodieën niet zomaar opgefrist zijn, ze zijn helemaal herwerkt, met verschillende versies van verschillende nummers die werden samengeplakt om een nieuw nummer te maken. LOVE is noch genant, noch onthullend. Aanvankelijk klinkt het een beetje vreemd, maar het nieuwe is er vlug van af. Daarna wordt duidelijk dat dit dezelfde nummers zijn die je uit je hoofd kent, maar dan met luider slagwerk en soms met wat delen op een andere plaats. Het is een extravagant resultaat, vrolijk en kleurrijk en vastberaden om te entertainen, maar LOVE is niet veel meer dan nostalgie die zich uitgeeft voor iets nieuws.
