eee gee

Under the name Eee Gee, Danish singer/songwriter Emma Grankvist makes richly detailed pop music that navigates heartbreak and joy with understated wit and smart melodies. After signing with Australia's Future Classic label, she earned critical acclaim for her 2022 debut, Winning. Eee Gee's sophomore album, the more eclectic She-Rex, appeared in late 2023. After abandoning an earlier, more electronic-focused project, Grankvist began using the Eee Gee moniker and collating her various influences into a more genre-expansive sound. She released her debut single, "Favourite Lover," on Future Classic in 2021 and followed it with guitar-based indie pop songs like "All of Nothing" and "Killing It." All of these appeared on her 2022 album Winning, a well-crafted debut whose ironic title belied the often melancholic nature of Grankvist's songwriting. A successful run of festival appearances followed, and in 2023 she released her follow-up album. A creative leap forward, She-Rex offered a panoply of styles from folk to wry alt-pop and lush electro-pop. Eee Gee's first outing of 2024 was the elegant chamber pop single "Snowdrop" from the Danish film Den grænseløse.
