Two Minuettos (Live in Milano)

Here are two names that never fail to impress as much for their past achievements as the originality of their respective musical discourse. They united their singularity in two albums published by Blue Note: Things in 2006 and Think three years later… During the summer of 2015, the Sardinian trumpeter and the pianist from Philadelphia played together for three nights on the Teatro dell'Elfo‘s in Milan. This encounter can be listened to in this Two Minuettos as a way to highlight their complicity and open-mindedness. This open-mindedness leads them to reinterpret particularly eclectic works, such as Johann Sebastian Bach’s, Gustav Mahler’s, Barbara Strozzi’s, George Gershwin’s, Joni Mitchell’s, Lennon/McCartney’s, or even Lucio Dalla’s! Fresu and Caine pay little attention to the change of styles or centuries, and rather focus on the conversation’s substance and their ability to assimilate these various writing systems.
