Esta edición de lujo de la banda sonora de 2007 de la adaptación cinematográfica que Tim Burton realizó del macabro musical Sweeney Todd: El Barbero Demoníaco de la Calle Fleet cuenta con el venerado actor Johnny Depp interpretando al personaje asesino que le da nombre a la película. A pesar de haber tocado con algunas bandas de rock (especialmente P con el vocalista de Butthole Surfers Gibby Haynes), Depp tenía poca experiencia en canto antes de interpretar este papel, pero abordó las canciones de Stephen Sondheim con emoción y habilidad intuitiva, como se ejemplifica en la dramática "Ephiphany", el sesgado manifiesto de venganza de Todd. La interpretación bien estudiada de Depp, no característica de Broadway, fundamenta la película y le permite evitar los clichés de las canciones de espectáculos operísticos, dando a estos temas imponentes un atractivo que va más allá del escenario teatral.
