Con su fiel sección rítmica, integrada por el batería Jeff Ballard y el contrabajista Larry Grenadier, Brad Mehldau nos entrega sus nuevas composiciones y algunas versiones de clásicos del pop (Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson), del jazz (Elmo Hope, Sam Rivers) y del gran cancionero americano (Almost Like Being In Love). Sin suponer una revolución en la trayectoria de esta espléndida formación, Seymour Reads The Constitution! resalta una vez más la fuerte complicidad existente entre estos músicos siempre inspirados, tanto en lo referente a la calidad de sus improvisaciones como de sus diálogos. Aquel Blues And Ballads que los tres publicaron en 2016 era ya una obra maestra, pero el presente trabajo aún sorprende más por cuanto el piano del patrón sueña increíblemente versátil y despliega una inaudita paleta de colores. Que el virtuoso norteamericano resulta impredecible era cosa sabida. Pero es que en este Seymour Reads The Constitution! Mehldau armoniza lo discordante, multiplica las perspectivas, deambula por la historia del piano jazzístico y encuentra siempre el acento preciso, el acorde perfecto, para hacer de estos temas algo fascinante, conmovedor y exquisito.
