El quinto disco de los Chemical Brothers contiene compases febriles, ritmos propulsivos y samples alucinatorios, con lo que el dúo se va desplazando en sentidos diferentes a lo anterior pero muy interesantes. El material de ritmos intensos de rigor viene ejemplificado por "The Big Jump" y "Believe" (esta última una pieza en constante evolución, con la voz de Kele Okereke de Bloc Party), pero lo que realmente sorprende de este disco es la gran cantidad de temas más apacibles. En "Hold Tight London" tenemos la hermosa interpretación vocal de Anna-Lynne Williams, mientras que el tema instrumental largo "Surface to Air" se desliza por unos acordes cautivadores e impulsados por el ritmo. Luego está la cruz de la moneda, como "Galvanize", una muestra de tecno-rap árabe imbuido de influencias del funk en la que interviene Q-Tip, y "Left Right", un tema virulento contra la guerra con versos de Anwar Superstar. Push the Button cubre una gran cantidad de territorio sonoro, ya que descubre otros mundos sonoros situados justo debajo de la superficie de la música electrónica más trillada.
