James Osterberg, nuevo capítulo. O cómo Iggy Pop -75 años- sigue diciendo no a la jubilación y al hospicio con Every Loser, su 19º álbum de estudio que inaugura Gold Tooth Records, una nueva discográfica lanzada por Andrew Watt, productor ganador de un Grammy que ha trabajado con Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam y Morrissey. El sonido que ha creado para la Iguana es potente y se percibe de inmediato. Un sonido que, sin jugar la carta del rock FM, quizá impulse a nuestro abuelo punk a lo más alto de las listas de éxitos. En este álbum escuchamos a un Iggy todavía adepto a su atuendo de crooner punk rock, con una voz que -ayudada por la edad- luce un tono grave y aterciopelado que siempre impresiona...
Para Every Loser, el maestro de los Stooges se ha rodeado de un elenco repleto de estrellas al que describe como "tipos que conozco desde que eran niños y cuya música te dejará boquiabierto". Estos "chicos" que han crecido son Duff McKagan (Guns N'Roses), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction), Travis Barker (Blink-182), Stone Gossard (Pearl Jam) o el fallecido Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters). Pero es sobre todo el eclecticismo que ofrece Iggy lo que fascina. Rock'n'roll típicamente stoogiano (Frenzy, Modern Day Rip Off), new wave de los 80 (Comments), cabaret lounge (The News for Andy), balada de enamorados (Morning Show) y ¡puñetazo punk rock (Neo Punk)!
