Después de tres álbumes bajo la bandera de The Marcus King Band (Soul Insight en 2015, el epónimo The Marcus King Band en 2016 y Carolina Confessions en 2018), el prodigio sureño avanza ahora con su nombre sin más, Marcus King. Con sólo 23 años, el chico de Carolina del Sur siempre ha jugado sin máscara, orfebre de un blues rock bien geolocalizado y lleno de country con tendencia de outlaw y sobre todo de ese soul eterno marca Atlantic/Stax. No es sorprendente que este El Dorado haga malabares con los valores de los Allman Brothers, Faces, Black Crowes, Gov't Mule, Tedeschi Trucks Band y los Rolling Stones de Exile on Main Street. Esta vez, King está producido por Dan Auerbach de los Black Keys, para centrarse más en el potencial comercial de las composiciones.
