Poco importa las dimensiones o envergadura del proyecto, lo importante es reaccionar ante la situación. En el caso del compositor Gabriel Kahane esa reacción sería inmediata. El día después de las elecciones se echaba la manta a la cabeza y se subía a un tren con un humanista objetivo: simplemente hablar con la gente. Una búsqueda de inspiración a lo largo de 8.980 millas que se cristalizado en este disco, Book of Travelers. Un viaje de trece días marcados por su encuentro con muchas personas y por sus historias. Este álbum «dietario» de once canciones supone un reflejo a pequeña escala de Estados Unidos, un desfile de individuos e historias, para superar incluso el formato canción y aventurarse en una suerte de propuesta teatral donde el único personaje en escena es el más atrayente embaucador. Unas composiciones clásicas al piano y la voz transparente y angelical de Gabriel para entregar un original discurso tan meditativo como reflexivo, en forma de apertura al mundo y a los demás. En este primer álbum para Nonesuch nuestro californiano recuerda a veces a Rufus Wainwright o Sufjan Stevens y juega la carta de la sinceridad, de las tragedias cotidianas y de los pequeños momentos de felicidad sin artificios. E incorpora algunas historias personales, como la huida de su abuela de la Alemania nazi para instalarse en Estados Unidos en October 1, 1939.
