Partner

Making a fun type of indie rock injected with humor and candor about topics like sexuality, drugs, and pop culture, Partner is a Canadian group fronted by songwriters Josée Caron and Lucy Niles. Their first album, 2017's In Search of Lost Time, was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize. Meeting as students at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, Caron and Niles played together in a number of bands during college, including the Mouthbreathers, punk outfit Yellowteeth, and hardcore group Go Get Fucked, prior to forming the '90s punk-pop-inspired Partner in 2014. They released their debut single, "Hot Knives," in October 2015 before relocating to Windsor, Ontario, in early 2016. Gaining attention for their energetic live shows and self-described queer perspective, they were called "best new band in Canada" by The Globe and Mail in early 2017. Partner's full-length debut, In Search of Lost Time, saw release on You've Changed Records in September 2017 and was among the ten finalists for the next year's Polaris Music Prize. They followed it with the EP Saturday the 14th on You've Changed and Father/Daughter Records in 2019, and in mid-2020, one of their songs, "Play the Field," was chosen as the theme song for the comedy series Slo Pitch. Featuring tracks like music-extoling "Rock Is My Rock," their second full-length, Never Give Up, arrived on You've Changed in November 2020.
