Auteur, compositeur, guitariste, interprète et acteur, Kris Kristofferson a marqué la country de son empreinte indélébile en lui fournissant quelques uns de ses plus grands succès, « Me and Bobby McGee » ou « Help Me Make It Through the Night », et de ses plus beaux albums, notamment Kristofferson (1970). En 1985, le « hors-la loi country » se joint à ses pairs Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson et Waylon Jennings au sein des Highwaymen.
