boy pablo

Harmonically rich and melodically and lyrically sweet, Boy Pablo's giddy indie pop first appeared on streaming sites in early 2016. The following year, his breakthrough single, "Everytime," earned over ten million plays across streaming platforms, paving the way for a series of EPs and subsequent 2020 full-length Wachito Rico in 2020. By 2021, he'd added a third EP to his growing catalog. A Norwegian of Chilean parentage raised in Bergen, Nicolás Pablo Rivera Muñoz attended a private music high school in Os before making his debut as Boy Pablo at 17 with the song "Flowers" in February 2016. He soon became associated with an international scene of like-minded teenaged musicians, including names like Clairo, Cuco, Yellow Days, and Rex Orange County, when he began to appear on site-curated bedroom pop playlists in 2017. His self-produced debut EP, Roy Pablo, arrived on 777 Records that May and included the viral single "Everytime." By then, he'd formed a backing band that appeared in the song's music video. "Losing You" and "Sick Feeling" were among the viral hits from his second EP, Soy Pablo, released in 2018. That year also saw Muñoz and band tour outside of Norway for the first time, including a sold-out club tour of the U.S. and Canada. He utilized everything he had learned to put together his debut album, 2020's Wachito Rico, which featured more of his musings on the transition between youth and adulthood. Another EP, Tuck me In, arrived in 2021.
