C’est LA série télé la plus attendue de 2016. Et la simple réunion des noms de ses deux producteurs exécutifs suffit à exciter comme jamais les fans de rock’n’roll et de cinéma : Martin Scorsese et Mick Jaeger. Diffusé sur la chaine HBO, Vinyl revient sur quatre décennies de musique à travers les yeux d’ un producteur de disques qui tente dans les années 70 de faire renaître de ses cendres son label en trouvant de nouveaux sons et de nouveaux talents alors qu'il traverse sa crise de la quarantaine. Drogue, sexe, punk et disco deviennent son quotidien dans une série dont l’épisode pilote a été réalisé par Scorsese lui-même. On connait la passion du grand cinéaste pour la chose rock, lui dont tous les films sont toujours de somptueux jukebox. Des premières images de Mean Streets en 1976 au son du Jumpin’ Jack Flash des Rolling Stones à la dernière séquence des Affranchis en 1990 avec la sulfureuse reprise de My Way par Sid Vicious, en passant par ses films consacrés au Band (The Last Waltz en 1978), à Bob Dylan (No Direction Home en 2005) ou bien encore à George Harrison (Living In The Material World en 2011), Martin Scorsese a toujours utilisé la musique comme un élément clef de ses mises en scène. Mais avec Vinyl, elle au centre même de son objectif. Dans les oreilles, le générique a été confié à Sturgill Simpson, nouvelle star montante du country rock rebelle (Sugar Daddy). Pour le reste c'est un défilé de stars et d'artistes plus pointus. On retrouve ainsi sur ce Volume 1 un casting éclectique comprenant notamment Otis Redding, Mott the Hoople, Ty Taylor, Ruth Brown, The Jimmy Castor Bunch, les Meters, Edgar Winter ou bien encore Foghat. © MD/Qobuz
