Dans le sillon du succès massif rencontré par l'album A Kind of Magic et sa tournée des stades européens en 1986, l'institution rock britannique Queen s'offrait une pause bien méritée faisant courir des rumeurs de séparation mais cachant une vérité encore plus sombre, la période étant marquée par le divorce de Brian May mais surtout par un Freddie Mercury révélé atteint du virus du SIDA. Plutôt que de s'apitoyer sur cette funeste nouvelle, le groupe décide dès lors de s'enfermer en studio pour une série de sessions menant à The Miracle, treizième et avant dernier volet de sa discographie studio. Mêlant à parts égales pop sur "Breakthru" ou "The Invisible Man" et hard rock comme sur le brûlot "I Want It All", l'album voit ses géniteurs clore la décennie avec panache et bénéficie en 2022 d'une luxueuse réédition documentant notamment les interactions des musiciens en studio pour le bonheur des fans.

Chronique

Dans le sillon du succès massif rencontré par l'album A Kind of Magic et sa tournée des stades européens en 1986, l'institution rock britannique Queen s'offrait une pause bien méritée faisant courir des rumeurs de séparation mais cachant une vérité encore plus sombre, la période étant marquée par le divorce de Brian May mais surtout par un Freddie Mercury révélé atteint du virus du SIDA. Plutôt que de s'apitoyer sur cette funeste nouvelle, le groupe décide dès lors de s'enfermer en studio pour une série de sessions menant à The Miracle, treizième et avant dernier volet de sa discographie studio. Mêlant à parts égales pop sur "Breakthru" ou "The Invisible Man" et hard rock comme sur le brûlot "I Want It All", l'album voit ses géniteurs clore la décennie avec panache et bénéficie en 2022 d'une luxueuse réédition documentant notamment les interactions des musiciens en studio pour le bonheur des fans.
