Même si ses albums paraissent sur le label Blue Note, Norah Jones n’a jamais été vraiment jazz. Comme elle n’a jamais vraiment été pop, ni folk, country ou soul… Depuis le début des années 2000, la chanteuse et pianiste américaine a toujours tout fait pour flouter, voire éradiquer, les frontières stylistiques au profit de sa propre musique apatride, qu’elle adore partager avec d’autres musiciens venus d’horizons divers. Petit tour de son monde en 10 titres.

Peter Thomas en orbite

En Allemagne aussi, ils ont leur Michel Legrand : Peter Thomas ! Ses musiques de film souvent déjantées ont fortement marqué toute une génération de spectateurs, dans les années 1960 et 1970. A tel point qu’il est souvent cité et samplé par de nombreux jeunes groupes pop, depuis les années 1990. Le compositeur culte s'en est allé le 17 mai 2020. Nous l'avions rencontré trois ans plus tôt, à l'aube de ses 92 ans.

Il était une fois Blue Note en 10 albums

Le plus célèbre des labels de jazz avait tout bon ! Artistes cinq étoiles, répertoires originaux, directeurs artistiques associés ingénieux, prise de son d’exception, sublime esthétique des pochettes, éclectisme des genres (be-bop, hard bop, soul jazz, jazz modal, free), rien ne manquait à l’appel des enregistrements de l’écurie lancée en 1939 par Francis Wolff et Alfred Lion, deux Allemands ayant fui le régime nazi. Dans cet ample catalogue, Qobuz a choisi 10 albums clés. Certains sont des classiques célébrés. D’autres, des merveilles sous-estimées. Mais tous sont des incontournables ayant façonné l’esthétique Blue Note.
