Mettant un terme à une absence discographique de cinq ans, la formation art pop britannique alt-J revient en 2022 avec The Dream, quatrième opus studio voyant le trio surprendre avec une poignée de titres de structure traditionnelle à même de bénéficier de passages radio. Ne cédant pour autant pas à l'appel de la facilité ou du succès commercial, alt-J canalise son goût pour l'expérimentation en une formule plus claire et accessible au fil de douze nouveaux titres parmi lesquels les singles "U&ME" et "Hard Drive Gold" ou le touchant "Get Better", embrassant le sujet du deuil avec une élégance digne d'un Elliott Smith ou d'un Bright Eyes. Bien que doté de textes largement axés autour de la mort, la beauté et la chaleur en émanant font de The Dream un album plein de vie et résolument humain, proposant de quoi contenter les amateurs de chacun des efforts précédents du groupe.
