L’année 2016 aura été mouvementée pour les membres de The Head And The Heart. En effet, ils ont perdu pendant quelque temps leur chanteur et leader suite à un séjour en cure de désintoxication. Pourtant, cela n’a pas empêché la formation de persévérer et de constituer Signs Of Lights. Les musiciens prennent alors la route de Nashville et s’enferment dans le studio du producteur Jay Joyce (Eric Church…). Ensemble, ils mettent sur pied un album plus électrique que les précédents, même si la touche folk est évidemment conservée. Fiers d’eux, ils disent avoir exploré des contrées musicales plus diverses que d’habitude et il est indéniable que leur album s’en retrouve enrichi. Les voix de Russell et de Charity Rose Thielsen font merveille et le rendu est parfois céleste. Peu habitué à cet exercice, The Head And The Heart a même enregistré une reprise de Matt Hopper et de sa chanson False Alarm. Le groupe de Seattle a donc la tête bien fixée sur les épaules et les épreuves qu’il a traversées semblent l’avoir renforcé. © AR/Qobuz
