Saxon, groupe parrain de la nouvelle vague de heavy metal britannique née à la fin des années 70, revient en 2013 avec son 20ème album, Sacrifice, succédant à Call to Arms paru en 2011. Bien accueilli par les critiques spécialisés, qui applaudissent le retour à un son plus "metal" après des détours par un pub-rock musclé, l'album voit la bande à Biff Byford se lancer dans l'arène revigorée et armée de riffs en acier trempé, de cavalcades rythmiques et de vocalises haut-perchées assurées de séduire les amateurs de heavy metal à l'ancienne (tout est dit sur "Warriors of the Warrior"). L'édition Deluxe propose un second CD contenant une version réorchestrée de "Crusader", deux titres en acoustique ("Requiem", "Frozen Rainbow") et deux autres réenregistrés ("Just Let Me Rock", "Forever Free").
