Formé à Londres par le Suédois Simon Balthazar (guitare, chant), Fanfarlo puise son inspiration musicale dans les racines folk, blues et country américaines. Il y a de quoi perdre son latin jusqu'à l'écoute de Reservoir qui dissipe tout malentendu.
Ce premier album enregistré dans les studios Tarquin en plein Connecticut, bien dans l'air du temps, partage quelques airs de famille avec Arcade Fire ou Beirut, ce qui est plutôt flatteur. Intègrant aux sonorités rock une panoplie d'instruments tels que le violon (à forte dose), la mandoline, l'accordéon (juste un peu), la trompette et la clarinette, les chansons de Reservoir coulent de source et savent ravir les oreilles.
Des mélodies efficaces et entraînantes comme celles de « I'm a Pilot », « Fire Escape », « Ghosts » ou « Luna » font le bonheur simple de ce rock rustique. Un beau disque de saison.
