Le nom de Horst Stein est tellement associé à Wagner et Bayreuth qu’on ne l’attend pas dans Sibelius. Et pourtant… Le chef d'orchestre allemand se fait ici très finlandais pour sculpter tout en puissance et rugosité les pages les plus aimées du compositeur. À noter un inédit de taille : sa Deuxième symphonie. Des interprétations qui se hissent au sommet, au moins à l’égal de celles d'Anthony Collins (dans la même veine) ou d’Eduart van Beinum (dans la même collection "Eloquence"). Et puis s’y ajoutent les formidables prises de son du label Decca de la grande époque. À ne pas manquer.
