Plutôt que de choisir entre le français et l’anglais, Malory Legardinier alias Malo’ ne tranche pas. A 23 ans, ce protégé de Jean-Louis Aubert alterne ainsi entre les deux langues tout au long de son deuxième album au titre explicite, puisque bilingue, Be / Être. Après The Old Way paru en 2015 et qui optait déjà pour cette bicéphalie, le jeune Caennais ayant passé un certain temps en Australie (il travaillera là-bas avec John Stone, père d'Angus et Julia Stone) offre une personnalité musicale forte et protéiforme au possible. Là aussi, aucun choix cornélien pour Malo’ qui fait tantôt de la chanson pure avant de passer au rock. Un rock contemporain et ouvert sur le monde comme souvent lorsqu’on est encore dans le vestibule de l’âge adulte en 2017. Pour ce premier enregistrement à bénéficier de gros moyens côtés réalisation (il paraît chez Columbia), Malo’ a su s’entourer et l’on croise notamment Charlie Winston, Vincent Segal, Albin de la Simone et bien entendu Aubert. Là aussi des talents pluriels à l’image de Be / Être capable d’introspections folk comme de titres plus enlevés et joliment arrangés. © CM/Qobuz
