Linos Piano Trio

The Linos Piano Trio describes its goal as "reinventing the repertoire." The group has sought to revitalize the piano trio repertoire with unusual performances of established works, presenting newly commissioned music, arrangements of non-trio works, and neglected piano trios of the past. The Linos Piano Trio was founded in 2007 in London. Its three members are violinist Konrad Elias-Trostmann, cellist Vladimir Waltham, and pianist Prach Boondiskulchok. The trio took its name from the musician Linos of Greek mythology, a son of Apollo. The Linos Piano Trio studied chamber music at the Guildhall School of Music in London and then moved on to the Musikhochschule Hannover in Germany, studying with Oliver Wille and Markus Becker. They took master classes or other guidance from András Schiff, Peter Cropper, Ferenc Rados, and others. The group had a breakthrough performance at the Tunnell Trust Showcase for Young Musicians and then, in 2014, took the Royal Philharmonic Society's Albert and Eugenie Frost Prize for an outstanding ensemble. The following year, the Linos Piano Trio won a first prize and an audience prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. That led to prestigious bookings at Wigmore Hall in London, the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, and the György Ligeti Saal in Graz, Austria, among other venues. The group has performed neglected works such as the piano trios of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, with which the trio made its recording debut in 2020 on the CAvi-music label. The Linos Piano Trio has commissioned various new works and has also expanded the trio repertory through performing arrangements of such unlikely works as the Prelude from Wagner's Tristan und Isolde and music from Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice, programming them in a series the group calls "Stolen Music." A selection of works performed at those concerts was issued in 2021 on CAvi-music with the title Stolen Music. The trio returned in 2023 with the album Maurice Ravel: In Search of Lost Dance.
