Dem Produzenten Giles Martin, dem Sohn des legendären George Martin, ist der Soundtrack dieses Films zu verdanken, der Elton Johns Werdegang – um nicht zu sagen Krönung – in der Welt der Musik beschreibt. Mit anderen Worten, das Retro-Ambiente in dieser Film-Biografie samt Soundtrack funktioniert tadellos, erst recht, wenn man weiß, dass Giles Martin im England der wilden Sechziger- und Siebzigerjahre als einer von vielen begeisterten Anhängern des Pop in der ganz vordersten Reihe stand. Seine eleganten und effektvollen Arrangements nähern sich zwar stark dem Sound jener Zeit, manchmal bringt er aber auch frischen Wind in gewisse Stellen, die man „postmodern“ nennen könnte. Die Platte enthält keinerlei Instrumentalmusik aus dem Film, sondern einzig und allein die Hits des Stars, den der Schauspieler Taron Egerton auf der Leinwand verkörpert. Ergeton verzaubert uns zwar mit seinen stimmlichen Glanzleistungen, trotzdem darf man nicht vergessen, dass auch andere Schauspieler bei bestimmten Songs mitwirken: I Want Love wird von Kit Connor, Gemma Jones, Bryce Dallas Howard und Steven Mackintosh interpretiert, wogegen es sich bei The Bitch Is Back, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart und Goodbye Yellow Brickroad um Duos handelt, die jeweils von Sebastian Rich, Rachel Muldoon und Jamie Bell gesungen werden (wobei Letzterer die schwierige Aufgabe hatte, Bernie Taupin, Elton Johns bevorzugten Songwriter darzustellen). Das absolute Bravourstück dieses Soundtracks ist jedoch ganz sicher der von schizophrenem Wahnsinn geprägte letzte Song der Platte – nämlich eine neue Version von (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again, und Taron Egerton präsentiert ihn im Duett zusammen mit... Dem Produzenten Giles Martin, dem Sohn des legendären George Martin, ist der Soundtrack dieses Films zu verdanken, der Elton Johns Werdegang – um nicht zu sagen Krönung – in der Welt der Musik beschreibt. Mit anderen Worten, das Retro-Ambiente in dieser Film-Biografie samt Soundtrack funktioniert tadellos, erst recht, wenn man weiß, dass Giles Martin im England der wilden Sechziger- und Siebzigerjahre als einer von vielen begeisterten Anhängern des Pop in der ganz vordersten Reihe stand. Seine eleganten und effektvollen Arrangements nähern sich zwar stark dem Sound jener Zeit, manchmal bringt er aber auch frischen Wind in gewisse Stellen, die man „postmodern“ nennen könnte. Die Platte enthält keinerlei Instrumentalmusik aus dem Film, sondern einzig und allein die Hits des Stars, den der Schauspieler Taron Egerton auf der Leinwand verkörpert. Ergeton verzaubert uns zwar mit seinen stimmlichen Glanzleistungen, trotzdem darf man nicht vergessen, dass auch andere Schauspieler bei bestimmten Songs mitwirken: I Want Love wird von Kit Connor, Gemma Jones, Bryce Dallas Howard und Steven Mackintosh interpretiert, wogegen es sich bei The Bitch Is Back, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart und Goodbye Yellow Brickroad um Duos handelt, die jeweils von Sebastian Rich, Rachel Muldoon und Jamie Bell gesungen werden (wobei Letzterer die schwierige Aufgabe hatte, Bernie Taupin, Elton Johns bevorzugten Songwriter darzustellen). Das absolute Bravourstück dieses Soundtracks ist jedoch ganz sicher der von schizophrenem Wahnsinn geprägte letzte Song der Platte – nämlich eine neue Version von (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again, und Taron Egerton präsentiert ihn im Duett zusammen mit...
