Wie in Seenot geraten halten sich die Dissonanzen der Holzbläser über den Wellenbewegungen der Mittelstimmen, während aus der Tiefe bedrohlich präsent die Continuo-Gruppe insistiert. Eine bildhafte Beschreibung drängt sich auf angesichts der starken Wirkung, die bereits die Einleitung zur Johannes-Passion unter Leitung von Marc Minkowski entfaltet.
Eine spannende Aufnahme ist das, vermutlich deutlich dramatischer, als die Leipziger Ratsherren es Bach hätten durchgehen lassen. Les Musiciens du Louvre spielen nicht nur mit federnder Beweglichkeit, die man selbst in Legatopassagen durchzuspüren meint, sie schaffen atmosphärische Ausgangssituationen, in die sich die Gesangssolisten begeben können. So entstehen emotional bewegende Deutungen selbst da, wo die Solisten nicht ganz mithalten können, etwa Altistin Delphine Galou beim zentralen „Es ist vollbracht“.
Der starke Eindruck dieser Aufnahme beruht auch auf der „Aufrüstung“ des Continuo: Mit Fagott (sogar Kontrafagott), Cembalo und Theorbe entfaltet die Basis ein sehr weit gefächertes Klangbild. Dass möglichst unmittelbare Affektvermittlung das Hauptanliegen ist, zeigt auch die Besetzung des Chores mit jeweils zwei Sängern, die zudem die Solopartien übernehmen. Hier sprechen Individuen, keine egalisierte Masse.
Lediglich der superbe Evangelist Lothar Odinius beteiligt sich nicht an den Chören. Sein reifer, frei fließender lyrischer Tenor ist absolut wortverständlich, er singt mit Schmelz und ohne Knödel in jeder dynamischen Abstufung schön, bei den Rezitativen verzichtet er fast komplett auf Vorhalte. Für die übrigen acht Solisten, allesamt mit individuellem Stimmklang: großes Lob. Vielleicht hätte die Aufnahme eine Abmilderung des sakralen Nachklangs (Chapelle de la Trinité in Lyon) vertragen können.

Albumbeschreibung

Wie in Seenot geraten halten sich die Dissonanzen der Holzbläser über den Wellenbewegungen der Mittelstimmen, während aus der Tiefe bedrohlich präsent die Continuo-Gruppe insistiert. Eine bildhafte Beschreibung drängt sich auf angesichts der starken Wirkung, die bereits die Einleitung zur Johannes-Passion unter Leitung von Marc Minkowski entfaltet.
Eine spannende Aufnahme ist das, vermutlich deutlich dramatischer, als die Leipziger Ratsherren es Bach hätten durchgehen lassen. Les Musiciens du Louvre spielen nicht nur mit federnder Beweglichkeit, die man selbst in Legatopassagen durchzuspüren meint, sie schaffen atmosphärische Ausgangssituationen, in die sich die Gesangssolisten begeben können. So entstehen emotional bewegende Deutungen selbst da, wo die Solisten nicht ganz mithalten können, etwa Altistin Delphine Galou beim zentralen „Es ist vollbracht“.
Der starke Eindruck dieser Aufnahme beruht auch auf der „Aufrüstung“ des Continuo: Mit Fagott (sogar Kontrafagott), Cembalo und Theorbe entfaltet die Basis ein sehr weit gefächertes Klangbild. Dass möglichst unmittelbare Affektvermittlung das Hauptanliegen ist, zeigt auch die Besetzung des Chores mit jeweils zwei Sängern, die zudem die Solopartien übernehmen. Hier sprechen Individuen, keine egalisierte Masse.
Lediglich der superbe Evangelist Lothar Odinius beteiligt sich nicht an den Chören. Sein reifer, frei fließender lyrischer Tenor ist absolut wortverständlich, er singt mit Schmelz und ohne Knödel in jeder dynamischen Abstufung schön, bei den Rezitativen verzichtet er fast komplett auf Vorhalte. Für die übrigen acht Solisten, allesamt mit individuellem Stimmklang: großes Lob. Vielleicht hätte die Aufnahme eine Abmilderung des sakralen Nachklangs (Chapelle de la Trinité in Lyon) vertragen können.
