Für Florence + The Machine begann die Reise bereits vor 10 Jahren, und zwar mit der Single Kiss with a Fist, die die kämpferische Natur der Künstlerin zur Geltung brachte. Mit High as Hope, ihrem vierten Album, ist die Engländerin nun eindeutig vorne mit dabei, nämlich mit einem nach wie vor schwer einzuordnenden Pop, der auf Elemente des Rock, des Soul oder sogar auf Barock-Arrangements zurückgreift. Unter der Teilnahme von Emile Haynie - Produzent von Bruno Mars, Eminem sowie Kid Cudi - produziert sie selbst ihr jüngstes Werk. Auf High As Hope ist die Sängerin mit ihrer außergewöhnlichen Stimme in Höchstform.
Problemlos geht sie von Melancholie in Träumerei über. Dabei schafft sie es, zwischen sanften lyrischen Farben und kratzigen Kehlgeräuschen zu balancieren. In Big God läutet ein Klavier das Ende ein, anschließend meldet sich in No Choir ein ganzes Orchester zu Wort. Streicher, Keyboards und vor allem zwei talentierte Gäste, Sampha und Jamie xx von The xx, verleihen dem Ganzen höchste Intensität. Florence Welch macht aus ihrer Musik ein wildes, fantastisches Universum, in dem man sich gerne verirrt. In zehn Titeln spricht sie über allgemeine Themen, die sich alle über ihre Beziehung zur Kunst und die dadurch in ihrem Leben ausgefüllten Leerräume drehen. Leerräume, die aufgrund ihrer Legasthenie, ihrer Anorexie, aber auch durch eine suchtbedingte Persönlichkeit und eine problematische Sexualität entstanden sind. Florence wirkt sehr zartbesaitet und dennoch gelingt es ihr, ein sehr intensives, gefühlsstarkes Werk zu präsentieren, indem sie sich sowohl ihrer sensiblen als auch ihrer dominanten Persönlichkeit stellt. © Anna Coluthe/Qobuz

Für Florence + The Machine begann die Reise bereits vor 10 Jahren, und zwar mit der Single Kiss with a Fist, die die kämpferische Natur der Künstlerin zur Geltung brachte. Mit High as Hope, ihrem vierten Album, ist die Engländerin nun eindeutig vorne mit dabei, nämlich mit einem nach wie vor schwer einzuordnenden Pop, der auf Elemente des Rock, des Soul oder sogar auf Barock-Arrangements zurückgreift. Unter der Teilnahme von Emile Haynie - Produzent von Bruno Mars, Eminem sowie Kid Cudi - produziert sie selbst ihr jüngstes Werk. Auf High As Hope ist die Sängerin mit ihrer außergewöhnlichen Stimme in Höchstform.
Problemlos geht sie von Melancholie in Träumerei über. Dabei schafft sie es, zwischen sanften lyrischen Farben und kratzigen Kehlgeräuschen zu balancieren. In Big God läutet ein Klavier das Ende ein, anschließend meldet sich in No Choir ein ganzes Orchester zu Wort. Streicher, Keyboards und vor allem zwei talentierte Gäste, Sampha und Jamie xx von The xx, verleihen dem Ganzen höchste Intensität. Florence Welch macht aus ihrer Musik ein wildes, fantastisches Universum, in dem man sich gerne verirrt. In zehn Titeln spricht sie über allgemeine Themen, die sich alle über ihre Beziehung zur Kunst und die dadurch in ihrem Leben ausgefüllten Leerräume drehen. Leerräume, die aufgrund ihrer Legasthenie, ihrer Anorexie, aber auch durch eine suchtbedingte Persönlichkeit und eine problematische Sexualität entstanden sind. Florence wirkt sehr zartbesaitet und dennoch gelingt es ihr, ein sehr intensives, gefühlsstarkes Werk zu präsentieren, indem sie sich sowohl ihrer sensiblen als auch ihrer dominanten Persönlichkeit stellt. © Anna Coluthe/Qobuz
