プレイリストについて
Lee Hazlewood was an American country and pop singer, songwriter, and record producer whose work is credited as an essential contribution to the sound often described as "cowboy psychedelia". While he is best known for his collaborations with Duane Eddy and Nancy Sinatra, his distinctive baritone voice makes his solo records equally compelling. Hazlewood was born in Oklahoma in 1929 and spent his youth living in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, and Texas. He studied for a medical degree in Dallas before serving with the US Army in the Korean War. Upon his return, he did not return to his medical studies but instead worked as a disc jockey, beginning his career in the music industry. From there he moved on to producing and songwriting, leading to his iconic partnerships first with Eddy, and eventually with Nancy Sinatra. He is possibly best known for writing Sinatra's hits "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" and "Summer Wine". In 1967 Hazlewood founded LHI Records (Lee Hazlewood Industries). LHI was the first label home for Gram Parsons of The Byrds when he was a member of the little known International Submarine Band. The label was short lived due to financial issues and was dissolved in 1971. Hazlewood then moved to Sweden for ten years where he wrote and produced the television show Cowboy in Sweden. Hazlewood passed away from renal cancer in 2007, the year after the release of his final album, Cake or Death. His creative output has received a cult status in the underground music scene and artists including Rowland S. Howard, Lydia Lunch, Einstürzende Neubauten, Nick Cave, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Beck, and Slowdive have all covered his songs. Photo: Lee Hazlewood courtesy of Mark Pickerel
