PLAY N SKILLZ

Siblings Juan "Play" Salinas and Oscar "Skillz" Salinas are Play N Skillz, versatile producers and occasional rappers who have successfully moved across contemporary rap, R&B, pop, and dance styles. Raised in Irving, Texas, they began making music in their mother's apartment, created a local stir, and went nationwide in 2004 with their work on Lil' Flip's U Gotta Feel Me, a Top Five hit on the Billboard 200. Later that year, signed to major label Universal as recording artists, the Salinas brothers released the Krayzie Bone and Adina Howard collaboration "Freaks," a single that peaked appropriately at number 69 on the Hot 100 that July. Across the next few years, the Dallas natives experienced some of their greatest success with Chamillionaire's "Ridin'," a number one pop hit that won the 2006 Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, and another production, Lil Wayne's "Got Money," was Grammy-nominated for 2008, while parent album Tha Carter III took the prize for Best Rap Album. Play N Skillz went on to release a handful of mixtapes and produced songs for the likes of Bun B, Pitbull, and Slim Thug. Their output ranged from trap to reggaeton during the mid-2010s, during which they added to their achievements with charting club singles such as "Not a Crime -- No Es Illegal," featuring Daddy Yankee, and "Si una Vez (If I Once)," on which they were assisted by Frankie J, Becky G, and Kap G.
