While both B-sides -- "Bleed" and "Say Baby Say Goodbye" -- eventually ended up on the fine rarities compilation Heaven Taste, any self-respecting No-Man fanatic will need to track down the original issue of this single for the title track alone. While it appears on the Loveblows and Lovecries album, the version there is in fact an edit -- this is the full nine-minute take, and there's not a wasted note. The sheer pleasure of hearing the Mick Karn/Steve Jansen/Richard Barbieri team backing up the No-Man crew over the dramatic song's total length can't easily be described, but it's considerable. Jansen's drum program starts solo after the initial swell of Steve Wilson's processed guitar, followed by the entrance of Karn on bass while Wilson continues some simply majestic swirls and epic fills. Tim Bowness' singing is unchanged from the edit (and doesn't need to be), while Barbieri's icy, strong keyboards provide the icing on the cake.
