Their eponymous debut album set out to remind us that real rock’n’roll (real rock’n’roll) should reek of heresy and be sung by someone with a face full of make-up, glitter stuck to their sweating forehead, with dried blood on the edge of their lips and stick-thin legs clad in skin-tight leather, topped off with lots of screaming and exuberant guitars. And after doing just that, Starcrawler’s young and restless band members have brought out a second album brimming with glam’n’punk bedlam. With Devour You, the Los Angelinos revive the spirit of Joan Jett’s Runaways, Poison Ivy and Lux Interior from The Cramps, and Iggy Pop’s Stooges, carried by Arrow de Wilde’s voice. This time, the 20-year-old Ozzy Osbourne fan channels her inner Courtney Love and never restricts her music only to the 70’s. Like its predecessor, Starcrawler’s second record is hugely innovative and about as cuddly as a cactus.
