Maple Glider
Maple Glider (real name Tori Zietsch) builds on her music from both hemispheres, perhaps even from two worlds: from her strict religious upbringing in her native Australia, to the languid summer nights spent on the French Riviera. After aborting her first musical project in early 2018 in Melbourne, these worlds created the foundation of her solo adventure in bustling Brighton.
It's through writing that the young Australian best manages to express this geographical and sentimental ballot, the border between escape and uprooting is sometimes so tenuous... Homesickness takes over and it's on her return from Europe, suitcases full of demos that the Australian gathers her collection of snapshots in Melbourne, supported by Tom Iansek (Big Scary, #1 Dads, The Paper Kites, Hockey Dad). Her first effort (Qobuzissime!), To Enjoy is the Only Thing - signed to Pieater and Partisan Records - is a captivating and delicate indie-folk work, which, beyond its cathartic and intimate aspects, stands out for the subtlety of its melodies and the maturity of its production. © Alexander Fay - July 2021/Qobuz
