Kiana Ledé

Known for acting roles including Zoe Vaughn in MTV's Scream series, Kiana Ledé has also been active as a pop and R&B vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from a young age. For a few years, Ledé was visible more as an actor than as a singer, but she raised her musical profile during the late 2010s with singles including the platinum hit "Ex." After starring in the 2018 comedy All About the Washingtons, Ledé hit the Top 30 of the Billboard 200 with her 2020 debut album, Kiki. She followed up in 2023 with the candid and more sensual Grudges. Born in 1997 in Phoenix, Arizona, Ledé expressed an interest in performing from a young age and took vocal and piano lessons growing up. She landed a contract with major label RCA by winning the Kidz Bop's Kidz Star USA talent competition in 2011, and she made her recording debut soon after with "Do the Mermaid" for an animated film. "Hey Chica," her first single, followed in 2012 and appeared on the soundtrack for the second Smurfs movie. Ledé then focused on acting for a while. Signed to Orange Factory Music, she began recording piano ballads (including covers of contemporary hits), as heard on the 2015 EP Soulfood Sessions. A year later, she issued the holiday-themed Christmas by Ledé. Ledé's musical career achieved true flight after she signed a deal with the UMG-distributed Republic label. Singles such as "I Choose You" and "FairPlay" arrived during 2017 and led to Selfless and Myself, EPs issued over the course of 2018 and 2019, during which she also starred in the Netflix comedy All About the Washingtons. The Selfless track "Ex" would eventually become Ledé's first platinum recording. In 2020, Ledé released her full-length debut, Kiki. She co-wrote all the tracks on the album, which was executive produced by Mike Woods and featured appearances by Ari Lennox, Lucky Daye, and 6LACK. It hit number 30 on the Billboard 200. Between albums, Ledé remained active with stand-alone 2021 and 2022 singles like the Kehlani collaboration "Ur Best Friend," "Irresponsible," and "Who Do You Think You Are," a collaboration with Cautious Clay recorded for the soundtrack of The School for Good and Evil." She teamed with Ella Mai in April 2023 for "Jealous," which appeared three months later on the full-length Grudges. Lyrically raw and sonically smooth, Ledé's second album also featured appearances from Bryson Tiller and Khalid.
