Flor

Oregon-bred/Los Angeles-based Flor blend indie rock and synth pop into an atmospherically hooky sound. The group debuted in 2014 with the Sounds EP, followed by the 2015 full-length Sights & Sounds on Fueled by Ramen. Flor continued to hone their sound, releasing 2017's come out. you're hiding and 2019's ley lines. Following the 2020 EP Reimagined, they delivered 2022's Future Shine. Formed in 2014 in Hood River, Oregon, Flor is the project of vocalist Zachary Grace, bassist Dylan Williams, guitarist McKinley Kitts, and drummer Kyle Hill. The group initially came together after Grace began experimenting with electronic music-making programs to create ear-catching synth sounds. Williams built tracks around these snippets, turning them into songs that updated the sound of the '80s for the 21st century. After moving to Los Angeles, Flor connected with photographer/designer Jade Ehlers, who helped the band come up with distinctive visuals; meanwhile, Williams established himself as a producer working with Flor, as well as artists like Halsey and Lostboycrow. The band released its debut single, "Heart," online in 2014, with the Sounds EP arriving that October. Following the release of the 2015 full-length Sights & Sounds, Flor signed to Fueled by Ramen in 2016, which reissued the Sounds EP that February. The band's first album for the label, come out. you're hiding, was released in May 2017. Featured on the album was the single "Guarded." Another single, "Get Behind This," arrived in December of 2018. In September of 2019, Flor returned with their sophomore album, ley lines. They were able to complete a tour in support of the album just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Over the next year, they released the EP Reimagined, which featured reworked versions of some of the group's hits, along with a cover of Coldplay's "Yellow." More non-album singles followed, including 2020's "lmho," as well as a 2021 rendition of the holiday standard "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." In February 2022, Flor returned to original work with their third full-length, Future Shine, which included the singles "Play Along," "Skate," and "Big Shot." That fall, they also embarked on a tour.
