Si tratta di una storia cominciata dieci anni fa per Florence + The Machine con il single Kiss with a Fist che metteva in luce un certo femminismo e un carattere combattivo. Per il suo quarto album High as Hope, l’inglese entra chiaramente nella corte dei grandi con una pop sempre originale che si ispira al rock, alla soul o ancora agli arrangiamenti barocchi. È lei stessa a produrre quest’ultima creazione con la partecipazione di Emile Haynie, il produttore di Bruno Mars, Eminem o ancora Kid Cudi. C’è da dire che con Florence Welch non si è proprio sbagliato! La voce straordinaria della cantante è su High As Hope al suo apice.
Si passa naturalmente dalla malinconia al sogno ad occhi aperti. Vengono alternati dolci vocalizzi lirici e suoni gutturali perturbanti. Un pianoforte che suona a morto su Big God poi un’orchestra intera prende vita su No Choir. Grazie agli strumenti a corda, alle tastiere e soprattutto a due invitati di talento, Sampha e Jamie xx di The xx, l’intensità raggiunge il suo apice. Welch fa della sua musica un universo selvaggio e fantastico nel quale amiamo perderci. Su dieci titoli, affronta una tematica generale che non è altro che il suo rapporto all’arte e ai vuoti che è riuscito a colmare nella sua vita. Vuoti scavati dalla sua dislessia, dalla sua anoressia o ancora dalla sua personalità additiva e da una sessualità perturbata. Si tratta di una storia cominciata dieci anni fa per Florence + The Machine con il single Kiss with a Fist che metteva in luce un certo femminismo e un carattere combattivo. Per il suo quarto album High as Hope, l’inglese entra chiaramente nella corte dei grandi con una pop sempre originale che si ispira al rock, alla soul o ancora agli arrangiamenti barocchi. È lei stessa a produrre quest’ultima creazione con la partecipazione di Emile Haynie, il produttore di Bruno Mars, Eminem o ancora Kid Cudi. C’è da dire che con Florence Welch non si è proprio sbagliato! La voce straordinaria della cantante è su High As Hope al suo apice.
Si passa naturalmente dalla malinconia al sogno ad occhi aperti. Vengono alternati dolci vocalizzi lirici e suoni gutturali perturbanti. Un pianoforte che suona a morto su Big God poi un’orchestra intera prende vita su No Choir. Grazie agli strumenti a corda, alle tastiere e soprattutto a due invitati di talento, Sampha e Jamie xx di The xx, l’intensità raggiunge il suo apice. Welch fa della sua musica un universo selvaggio e fantastico nel quale amiamo perderci. Su dieci titoli, affronta una tematica generale che non è altro che il suo rapporto all’arte e ai vuoti che è riuscito a colmare nella sua vita. Vuoti scavati dalla sua dislessia, dalla sua anoressia o ancora dalla sua personalità additiva e da una sessualità perturbata.
