AG Club

Originating from California's East Bay Area, AG Club produce an eclectic blend of influences from indie rock and pop to R&B and Memphis rap, with ambitions to branch out into other forms of media such as film and television. The group's releases, such as 2020's Halfway Off the Porch and 2022's Imposter Syndrome, contain atmospheric confessionals as well as swaggering anthems. Initially referred to as the Nameless Collective before settling on AG Club (short for Avant Garde Club), the group first formed in 2017 in Brentwood, California, recording songs in a garage. Their core members consist of producer/vocalist Loui, rapper/writer Jody Fontaine, guitarist/vocalist Mick Anthony, vocalist/designer Baby Boy, and designer/video director Manny. Inspired by alternative rap collectives from the 2010s such as Odd Future and A$AP Mob, the artists came together with the interest of making music that differed from the typical Bay Area hip-hop sound. The group frequently released songs and videos, and built up a following throughout Northern California with their live shows. The AG Club began receiving widespread attention after the nine-song EP Halfway Off the Porch appeared in early 2020. NLE Choppa and A$AP Ferg contributed verses to a remix of the EP's breakthrough track, "Memphis." After the group relocated to Los Angeles, they released the track "Columbia" in advance of their second major project. The two-part FYE (Fuck Your Expectations) arrived in 2021, and the full-length Imposter Syndrome followed in 2022.
