Si potranno perdonare molto volentieri alcune delle «debolezze» dell’audio di questa registrazione di Les Troyens di Berlioz (realizzata in diretta e in concerto nel mese di aprile 2017, l’immenso affresco che conosciamo, in favore della qualità musicale e vocale di primissima qualità del palcoscenico (che comporta una bella maggioranza di voci francesi, Stéphane Degout in testa), dell’Orchestra Filarmonica di Strasburgo e dei tre cori riuniti –poiché l’opera comporta degli immensi flutti di fondo corali– che sono il coro dell’Opera Nazionale del Reno, il coro dell’opera Nazionale di Baden-Baden, e i cori della Filarmonica di Strasburgo. La registrazione che vi proponiamo si basa ovviamente sull’edizione completa originale, che permette di ascoltare Les Troyens così come l’opera si presentava nel 1863, prima che il Théâtre-Lyrique, tramite un’operazione di importanti tagliuzzamenti, facesse degli Atti I e II da un lato e degli Atti III e IV dall’altra, due opere distinte (La Prise de Troie e Les Troyens à Carthage) che non rendevano affatto giustizia all’intero spartito. Si potrà assaporare ovviamente la ricchissima invenzione orchestrale di Berlioz il quale, a ogni nuova opera, inventava senza sosta, presentando in qualche modo dei prototipi avanguardisti senza mai riposare sugli allori del passato. Da notare la presenza di sei filicorni, appena inventati da Adolphe Sax (di cui Berlioz fu l’infaticabile difensore, anche se non integrerà affatto questi strumenti nei suoi spartiti, probabilmente a causa della pessima qualità dei primi strumentisti che seppero o meno come suonarli), del clarinetto basso, e d’un esercito di percussioni tra le quali alcuni strumenti che all’epoca erano senz’altro rari: cembali antichi, darabouka, tam-tam, tamburi del tuono… Ecco una registrazione che, ovviamente, a partir da questo momento segna una svolta nella discografia berlioziana. © SM/Qobuz
