New York producer Jeremy Malvin first burst onto the future beats scene in 2012 with the hit Marijuana inspired by Idris Muhammad and was quickly taken up by Future Classic, the Australian label for the famous star of this genre, Flume. He is now based at Counter Records, a sub-division of the prestigious English record company Ninja Tune and a much more suitable venue for his hectic work schedule. Chrome Sparks released his first album in 2018 after a long series of EPs and fans will now be delighted to discover five brand new groovy tracks on Be on Fire.

The album starts with In2 Your Love, an explosion of soft synths based on a post-hip-hop downtempo beat, followed by a whole new load of moog - his weapon of choice - on Juno Lion, a sound that is typical of the Kaytranada generation and takes dominates the whole sound field. But you can also hear the influences of Parliament, Vangelis, Jarre, Amp Fiddler and even Can on this album, from the keyboard in wah-wah mode on the cosmic disco delight Be on fire to the psychedelic arpeggio on Ultraviolet Rainbow.
