Without being the most mediatized soul sister of the seventies, Betty Wright left her mark on the genre with hits such as "Clean Up Woman" and "Tonight Is the Night", copiously sampled by Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, DJ Quik, Chance the Rapper and dozens of others. In addition to her solo career, the Miami-based singer was a backing vocalist for Stevie Wonder, David Byrne, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff and many others, and many rappers have invited her to appear as a guest vocalist (Diddy, Nas, Rick Ross, The Game, Lil Wayne). Wright even conceived her latest album, "Betty Wright: The Movie", with The Roots in 2011.
