The Australian queen of indie rock delivers a delightful MTV Unplugged live session featuring Paul Kelly and Marlon Williams.

During the 90s and the 2000s, it was a rite of passage for artists to perform an acoustic set for the MTV cameras; from Jay-Z to Oasis, via Neil Young, Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill, Hole, Alice In Chains, Maxwell and even Kiss, everyone came to prove their worth by unplugging the amp... With MTV Unplugged (Live in Melbourne) which has just recently come out, Courtney Barnett joins the ranks.

Courtney Barnett may well have perfected her image of an idle and relaxed rock singer, but she certainly doesn’t take the business of performing lightly.

Her live sessions confirm the exponential potential of her songs played in public. Recorded on the 22nd of October 2019, this short, 8-track-long MTV Unplugged performance gives the Australian artist the opportunity to invite some of her friends on stage for an evening Down Under. As well as her hit singles Depreston, Avant Gardener and Sunday Roast, Barnett revisits Archie Roach’s Charcoal Lane alongside the legendary Paul Kelly (the Australian Dylan) as well as Not Only I by Seeker Lover Keeper in a duet with Marlon Williams. Her piano accompaniment is provided by Evelyn Ida Morris on Nameless, Faceless.
