Warren Lee

Born in Hong Kong, pianist Warren Lee was six when he first appeared with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in a televised concert, and he performed with the Macao Chamber Orchestra when he was ten. In 1995, he won the first prize in the Stravinsky Awards International Piano Competition, and also won the Grand Prix Ivo Pogorelich. Lee attended Hong Kong University, where he earned his M.B.A., and he went on to graduate from the Royal Academy of Music and Yale University School of Music. He received the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award from the Junior Chamber International Hong Kong in 2012, and in 2015 he was named an associate of the Royal Academy of Music. Lee is also a noted composer of choral works, and his publishers include Pavane Publishing and Profiri & Horvath. Serving as music director of St. Paul's Co-educational College in Hong Kong, Lee is also Hong Kong's Representative of the Royal Academy of Music. The Yale University School of Music gave him the Cultural Leadership Citation in 2016, and the Ian Mininberg Distinguished Alumni Award in 2017. Lee has recorded for Naxos with violinist Hyejin Chung and clarinetist Andrew Simon, and he is a Steinway Artist.
