Uun

Detroit-based Uun's meticulously produced, pounding, and atmospheric techno started making waves in the early 2010s with his productions appearing on some of the scene's biggest labels, including Mord and Soma. Uun (aka Ryan Malony) originally cut his chops playing guitar in numerous bands before moving into the world of electronic music. His driving but dark-sounding techno first appeared in 2013 with the release of the Minus EP on Business Class. Numerous EPs followed over the next few years, with releases appearing on Eternal Drive, Dystopian Rhythm, and Teggno. By 2016, Uun had started his own label, Ego Death. Focusing purely on his own releases, the label saw him pushing his sound into thicker, more atmospheric techno while retaining the brooding sense of dread that his productions had become known for. Uun's output continued over the next two years, with releases on Dynamic Reflection, Modern Cathedrals, and No Future but What We Make. 2019 saw him picked up by Bas Mooy's Mord, issuing the Hell Is Empty EP and also dropping the Architects of Fear EP and Proletarii on Slam's long-running Soma label. Alongside his recorded output, Uun also crafted his own live show, which saw him playing numerous dates in the U.S. and across Europe.
