United Vibrations

Cosmic jazz quartet United Vibrations was formed in 2009 in Southeast London by Wayne Francis (saxophone) and the Dayes brothers: Ahmad (trombone), Kareem (bass) and Yussef (drums). Influenced by Fela Kuti, Sun Ra, John Coltrane and other cosmic jazz artists, the group performs their own unique take on jazz which also includes jazz fusion and afrobeat influences. United Vibrations has performed or collaborated with Tony Allen, Aloe Blacc, Seun Kuti, Soothsayers, Electric Jalaba, and many other groups. They released their debut single, “Ra!”, in 2009, which was followed by “No Space No Time” (2010). Their debut album, Galaxies Not Ghettos, was released in 2011 to critical acclaim. Their next release was the 2012 EP, We Never Die. The group’s positive press led to several awards in 2013. United Vibrations released their second album, The Myth of the Golden Ratio, in 2016. The group was scheduled to perform in 2017 at the annual SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas but had to drop out when band member Yussef Dayes was denied entry into the United States.
