Nonpareils

Named after the decorative candy sprinkles, Nonpareils is the solo project of founding Liars member Aaron Hemphill. After leaving the band in 2016, Hemphill changed his musical direction and focused on abstract pop that combined hooks with blurry sounds, making intentionally strange recordings of acoustic instruments combined with glitchy electronics. To Hemphill, the sessions sounded more like the product of a group than one person, so he adopted the name Nonpareils. His debut album, Scented Pictures, arrived in April 2018.
