Kizz Daniel

Kizz Daniel's silky voice and warm, effervescent pop has made him a major star in his native Nigeria and much of Africa. Buoyed by his first radio hit, 2014's "Woju," the singer's 2016 full-length debut, New Era, helped him break out internationally, topping Billboard's World Music Albums chart. Then performing as Kiss Daniel, he rebranded as Kizz Daniel before going independent and issuing his second album, No Bad Songz, on his own Flyboy Inc label in 2018. Collaborating widely between the Afrobeats (Wizkid, Davido), electronic, (Diplo) and hip-hop (Wretch 32) worlds, he consistently notched hits into the next decade, the most prominent of which was 2022's chart-topping smash "Buga (Lo Lo Lo)." The song became a popular dance challenge on social media networks and was featured on his 2023 album, Maverick, alongside another major hit, "Cough." Daniel went quickly back to work, releasing the streaming hit "Twe Twe" from his 2024 EP TZA. Born Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, the Abeokuta native showed musical promise throughout his youth, though he didn't begin his music career until after graduating from university in 2013. Signed by G-Worldwide Entertainment under the stage name Kiss Daniel, he released his debut single, "Shoye," in May 2014 before rising to national prominence with his second single, "Woju." The song soon spawned a popular remix featuring Tiwa Savage and Davido. Following the release of another hit single, "Mama," Daniel issued his full-length debut, New Era, on G-Worldwide in May 2016. It debuted at number eight on the Billboard World Album Chart. After parting ways with his label and changing his moniker to Kizz Daniel, he started his own imprint, Flyboy Inc, and collaborated on singles with Wizkid ("For You") and Davido ("One Ticket") before issuing his sophomore album, No Bad Songz, in November 2018. A World Music Album chart-topper, the 20-track set featured guests like Diplo, Diamond Platinumz, and Wretch 32. Continuing to collaborate with artists from the realms of electronic music, hip-hop, and Afro-pop, he was featured on "True" by Mayorkun in 2019. He also continued to issue popular singles of his own like "Madu" and "Jaho," the latter of which opened Daniel's third studio album, 2020's King of Love. Despite the popularity of some of its singles, especially "Boys Are Bad," the album failed to reach the commercial heights of its predecessors. A year later Daniel regained his footing on the seven-song EP Barnabas. Issued in November 2021, the project boasted the chart-topping "Lie" along with the sleek "Eh God (Barnabas)." His biggest success, however, was yet to come. Released in May 2022, the Tekno-assisted "Buga (Lo Lo Lo)" was a massive chart-topping hit with an infectious rhythm that inspired a social media dance challenge. In November of that year, Daniel performed "Buga" and its similarly successful follow-up, "Cough," at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Both songs appeared on his next album, Maverick, released in July 2023. That same year "Buga" won Song of the Year honors at the Soundcity MVP Awards. With hardly a pause, Daniel began issuing new singles starting in late 2023 with "Too Busy to Be a Bae" and "Twe Twe." The two songs were rolled into the TZA EP in March 2024.
