Gene Pierson

Gene Pierson, born Giancarlo Salvestrin on April 29, 1946, in Venice, Italy, embarked on his musical journey after moving to Australia in 1950. Launching his career in Sydney, he initially performed as Gene Chandler before adopting the stage name Gene Pierson, inspired by a misinterpretation of a brand name. Gene Pierson achieved early success in New Zealand, with hits like "Love, Love, Love" (1966) and "You Got to Me" (1967), and in Australia, where his rendition of "Reach Out" (1970) gained notable recognition. Beyond his solo career, Gene Pierson played a pivotal role in the music industry as a promoter, launching AC/DC's career and later transitioning into a publisher and music producer. His entrepreneurial ventures include acquiring Peter Lik Publishing Group and founding both Lifestyle Music and Music Hive. Gene Pierson's legacy extends through his debut album, Spinning the Moments (2007), a collection initiated in 1968 but released decades later, marking his enduring influence in the music world.
