Emilio Moreno

Spanish violinist and violist Emilio Moreno studied music and philosophy in Madrid before attending the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where he worked with Jaap Schröder. Later, he received his doctoral degree in musicology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He has performed with Frans Brüggen, Gustav Leonhardt, La Petite Bande, La Chapelle Royale, Ensemble 415, and La Stravaganza Köln, and he is the principal violist of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century. A specialist in Spanish Baroque and Classical music, Moreno has rediscovered obscure works and contributed musicological research, leading to concert performances and recordings with his hand-picked groups La Real Cámara and El Concierto Español. He also co-founded the Glossa record label with his brother, José Miguel Moreno, and worked on projects with Enrico Gatti, Gaetano Nasillo, and Wouter Müller. Moreno is the director of the early music program at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona, and he has recorded exclusively on Glossa.
