Electronic - Released October 20, 2008 | Wagram Music - W Lab

On October 20, 2008 the self-titled Caravan Palace was released, preceded by the single "Jolie Coquine". The album received praise for its traditional jazz inclinations, and placed in a number of European albums charts. In Switzerland, the album reached number 72 and in Belgium it achieved a position of 42. The album performed best in the band's native France where it attained a peak position of 11 in August 2009, and remained on the French albums chart for 68 consecutive weeks. Caravan Palace does not hide its intentions: to swing and swing everybody. With a rare energy, this album of electro-jazz gypsy jazz is literally transcended by the vocal power of Zoé Colotis who scats as if his life depended on it, like a Scatman John without mustache or Aretha Franklin white. Little bit of a woman twirling, Colotis extirpates the best of the guts of his comrades musicians with the wire of "Pretty naughty" or "Star scat". The best of a jazz on which the shadows of the great Django (Reinhardt) hang.

Taking in influences as diverse as Massive Attack, Django Reinhardt and Gorillaz, Panic is the second studio album from Caravan Palace, the Parisian electro-swing six-piece responsible for transferring the traditional sounds of gypsy jazz to the modern day dance-floor. The follow-up to their 2008 self-titled debut includes two cuts from 2011's Clash E.P. (the title track, "12 Juin 3049") alongside the lead single, "Rock It For Me." © Jon O'Brien /TiVo
