Brad Cox

Grounded in the sounds of the 1990s, splicing the rocking country of that era with hints of its alternative rock, Australian country singer Brad Cox nevertheless adds modern elements to his music -- with nods to pop, contemporary R&B, and even a bit of retro-soul -- stylistic stretches that enliven his music. Cox expanded his palette on 2020s My Mind's Projection and 2023's Acres, which helped bring him greater recognition in the United States. A native of Jindabyne, New South Wales, Australia, Brad Cox was born in 1995, the son of two swimming coaches. Cox started playing music as a teenager, quickly gravitating toward country. After completing high school, he worked on a cattle farm in the Northern Territory, playing gigs at night. Soon, he started concentrating on a musical career, returning to Jindabyne and writing the songs that comprised his 2018 eponymous debut. Thanks to the popularity of "Too Drunk to Drive," a single that reached number one on KIX Country Radio Network, the record snagged Cox two Golden Guitar Award nominations in Australia. It also found an admirer in Dan Isbell, a professional songwriter who scored hits with Luke Combs. Isbell co-wrote "Drinking Season," a single that wound up anchoring 2020's My Mind's Projection. The album debuted at number 12 on the ARIA Charts and gave Cox his first release with Sony/ATV Nashville. The EP What's Your Favourite Country Song? appeared the following year. Cox worked with Nashville producer/songwriter Brandon Hood on his third studio long-player. Released in 2023, the 17-song Acres included the hit singles "What Brought You Back" and "Single Life."
